The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law”

CALL TO WORSHIP

Why have you come here?

We come to worship our God.

By whose authority do you do this?

We gather in the name of Jesus, the Christ,

the One who has called us to be united in God’s Spirit.

How will you do this?

We will sing, we will pray. We will tell stories.

But, most of all, we will love –

our God, our neighbours, and ourselves.

Then you are welcome here!

*HYMN # 339   “When Morning Gilds the Skies”

OPENING PRAYER

Eternal God, as we are bound in the tangles of our times,

we need some time with you. As we are chafing for freedom

and grace, we yearn for your liberating touch upon our souls.

As we are embarrassed by our follies and self-deception

we need to have you reform and restore us and

make us truly your children. We come to you now in need,

and in great hope that today we may be blessed by you

because we come to you in Christ’s name and pray together, saying

THE LORD`S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; Thy

kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our

trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;

for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever

and ever. Amen.

THOUGHT for the WEEK

``God gave us imagination to help compensate us for what we are not, and a sense of humour to console us for what we are.”

HEAVENLY HUMOUR

“Is This a Sign of the times?”

A delivery truck with three large letters painted on both sides and on the cab, stopped by a building in the city. The letters were G O D. When I got closer to the truck, I saw they stood for Guaranteed Overnight Delivery!
